Mv. Sayed Hossain, Central Executive Member of the Arakan Rohingya National Council (ARNC), was born on January 1, 1995, in Allaywa village track, Thamann Thar Union (Shaheb Bazar), Northern Maungdaw, Arakan State, Myanmar.
From an early age, he pursued Islamic education with dedication, memorizing the entire Holy Quran in 2004 at Madrasah Muenul Islam in Shaheb Bazar. He later advanced his studies and completed the prestigious Dauratul Hadith course in 2012 at Madrasah Darus Sunna. In the same year, he passed the Hai’atul Ulya Board Examination, supervised by Al-Jamia Al Islamiya Fatiya. Further expanding his academic qualifications, he also passed Matriculation Examination in 2014.
Like many Rohingya, Mv. Sayed Hossain was forced to flee his homeland during the mass atrocities committed by the Myanmar military in 2017. Under the so-called “clearance operations,” the military carried out widespread killings, arson, and sexual violence, which resulted in the deaths of many thousands of Rohingya. Around 740,000 Rohingya were forced to escape across the border into Bangladesh, including Mv. Sayed Hossain. Since then, he has been living in the world’s largest refugee settlement in Cox’s Bazar.
Despite the immense challenges of life in exile, he has remained committed to education and community service. He currently serves as a Secondary High School Teacher of the Myanmar Curriculum and as a Senior High School Teacher at Mayyu Sunlight Community High School, where he works to empower Rohingya students, helping preserve their language, culture, and academic aspirations.
Beyond education, as a Central Executive Member of ARNC, Mv. Sayed Hossain is deeply engaged in the political and humanitarian struggle of his people. He is committed to working under the leadership of ARNC to ensure justice, safety, and the restoration of fundamental rights for the Rohingya. His vision is to contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of a dignified and voluntary return all Rohingya refugees in the and elsewhere to their ancestral homeland in Arakan State, where the Rohingya can live in peace, equality, security and dignity as equal citizens of the country.
