ARNC Commemorates Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day 2026
The Arakan Rohingya National Council (ARNC) extends its sincere appreciation to all distinguished speakers, human rights advocates, Rohingya representatives, Burmese activists, international guests and participants who joined our webinar on 25 August 2026 to commemorate Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day. The ARNC also thanks the audience who joined our webinar.
The hours-long webinar brought together Rohingya and international voices to honour the victims and survivors of genocide and to highlight the continuing suffering of Rohingya in Arakan, the refugee camps of Bangladesh and across the diaspora. The valuable contributions of all speakers strengthened our collective call for justice, protection and the right of the Rohingya to return to their ancestral homeland.
The ARNC firmly maintains that genocide must never be rewarded with permanent displacement or the loss of Rohingya identity and homeland. There can be no lasting peace without the restoration of the Rohingya’s identity as an indigenous ethnic community of Arakan, full citizenship and fundamental rights, and accountability for those responsible for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The return of Rohingya refugees must be safe, voluntary, dignified and sustainable. Returnees must be allowed to go back to their original villages and lands, not to displacement camps or segregated settlements. Their citizenship, security, freedom of movement, political participation, access to education, healthcare and livelihoods, and ownership of their property must be guaranteed.
The ARNC remains committed to a peaceful and political solution based on justice, equality and dialogue. Rohingya representatives must be included as equal stakeholders in every national and international process concerning their future and the future of Arakan.
We once again thank every speaker, participant and supporter who contributed to the success of the webinar. Together, we renew our commitment to remembrance, justice and the peaceful and dignified return of the Rohingya people to their ancestral homeland.
